The BMS Stormbreaker is a class leading solution for the management of surface water flows from sealed surfaces to prevent flooding as part of a Sustainable urban Drainage System (SuDS) system. It forms an artificial void underground, which allows the storage of storm water flows, which can then be allowed to infiltrate into the surrounding soil when water levels abate (infiltration) or to be discharged in a controlled manner from a fully sealed system (attenuation).

Its certified vertical loading is 756 kN/m2. BMS have observed vertical loading in excess of 900 kN/m2 in product quality testing.
This means that the Stormbreaker offers;

- Minimal cover requirement; it can be installed with only 130 mm of cover for patios, blue/green roots and pedestrian traffic areas and only 600 mm of cover under roadways.
- Unrivalled Installation depth range; from one Stormbreaker piece; 0.165 mm to an installation as deep as 18.56 m. This means the Stormbreaker can achieve virtually any storage volume no matter what the site constraints are.
To demonstrate the Stormbreaker’s strength BMS commissioned a video where a 18 tonne fire truck is driven over a Stormbreaker installation with only 130 mm of cover in the form of sand and paving brick, which can be seen below.
The video shows that the Stormbreaker does not move vertically or laterally or suffer any kind of structural damage despite the 14 tonne load and only 130 mm of cover.

Butler Manufacturing Services (BMS) Ltd. are happy to report that once again the company has come through its annual ISO 9001 Quality Management and OHSAS 18001 H&S Management system reaudit's with flying colours. The audit was conducted in BMS Headquarters in Longford, Ireland in late November and this time was a complete reaudit of both systems rather than a surveillance audit.
BMS take pride in producing quality products that are great value for wastewater and surface water treatment and were first accredited with ISO 9002 Quality Management system in 1995. With the increasing focus on H&S both in work and on site BMS Management see their OHSAS 18001 H&S as a great way to continually improve H&S in the workplace which is of benefit to all staff and sub-contractors.
BMS are now recertified for another three years subject to yearly/spot surveillance.
